Auburn Board of Trustees on Friday approved a resolution to search for an Architect and Construction manager for a new central classroom facility. The building is to replace classroom space in the Haley Center and Parker, Funchess, Upchurch and Spidle Halls. The location for the building has not been determined yet, but is expected to be in the core part of campus.

Are they going to have to tear down Haley center to build a new complex? Wow, where would they relocate all those classes during construction? Haley holds so much classroom and office space, this could be a real (short-term) logistical mess.

I don’t see them tearing down Haley Center to build this. This building is meant to upgrade their classroom facilities. It is not meant to replace any of the office space.

Should be interesting to see what gets proposed – the buildings that are mentioned (besides Haley) include existing human sciences classroom space, animal science/agriculture, and COSAM use areas. Most of these are built late 50’s-early 60’s (or renovated during that time period) A wide array of needs considering the broad range of majors using these buildings.
