We’re going on a Celebrity cruise from Auckland to Sydney on 3/18. I found a 2025 thread with ideas for things to do in Auckland and Sydney, but I’m especially interested in restaurant recommendations for our pre- and post-cruise stays. We’ll be staying at the Park Hyatt Auckland and the Intercontinental Sydney hotels.
The Viaduct area has a ton of good restaurants. We enjoyed Oyster and Chop, Giraffe, Soul Bar and Bistro. But there are others to check out. And it’s very pretty down by the water where the beautiful boats are.

We ate down by the water in Auckland, as Thumper suggested. There were multiple nice restaurants there.

We were just there! We had a great lunch in Auckland at Onslow, which was next to our hotel. It’s in a condo/apartment building perhaps out of the way of the tourist areas. But we agree it was one of our favorite meals in a long long time.
In Sydney, if you find yourselves in the CBD at breakfast time, Dymocks Bookstore has a nice cafe on their mezzanine. Our last night, we had dinner at Harborfront Seafood Restaurant at Campbells Cove with stellar views of the bridge and Opera House. Go before sunset and stay until dark.

I just left Sydney. Fish at the Rocks was fantastic. Highly recommend.

these were both taken in Auckland at restaurants in the Viaduct area.
You probably also want to take the ferry to Waiheki Island for the day. Great food there too. We went to Batch Winery which is quite high…gorgeous views, and we had a great light lunch.

Top pic was at Soul Bar and Bistro (get the crusty bread also…we almost didn’t…but we are glad we did).

The food we had was excellent!
Get Gelato everywhere they have it. Ok…maybe not everywhere…but get it. We had delicious gelato, and so many wonderful flavors.

Several Australians recommended Cafe Sydney to us. We really enjoyed it and the views were incredible!
