If I end up at UMD, I’ll most likely have credit to place out of a bunch of core classes. With that said, I should have some flexibility in my final few years at UMD. Do they allow undergrad students to audit law school classes? I’m interested in a few of their offerings but don’t really want to go to law school. I’d do it more as an educational experience about contracts and other law topics. Thanks in advance!

The thing about UMD’s law school is that it’s in Baltimore (not in College Park). I’m not sure if they’d let you audit the classes, but if they do it could be an interesting commute…

Whoops, that was my bad. All I did was search UMD law in google to see if you even had a law school and then posted this.

I’d still like an answer if someone has it though because I might have a car on campus in my later years anyways.

Well, it might be possible to take the MARK. Depending on what time your classes are. It’s a commuter train and runs during weekdays right into Baltimore from the CP metro station (which is simple to get to - a short walk or bus ride). Don’t know the schedule, though, or how difficult it is to get to the law school from the MARK station…

But I don’t think they let you audit classes if you’re not accepted into the school (law school, that is) o.0

Anyway most people on this forum probably wouldn’t know…this is something I’d e-mail the law school about.

Finally if you are just in it for “law info,” then it seems to be you would waste a lot less time (due to the commute, especially, but I also think the class would cover things that would be irrelevant to you if you’re not taking the bar haha) if you just read a book about it on your own?

Thanks umcp11! I’ll email the law school about it. I’ve looked up several other law schools and they said non-law students can audit but I’m assuming all of them are different.

How far of a commute do you think it is by car?

I’m not sure exactly what I would gain from it. It was just an option that I would like to keep open if possible.

Google says it’s 36 minutes but I think that is a low end estimation. If you include walking to your car/parking/stop lights/light traffic it can become much more than that.

During rush hour (a pretty wide window around CP, can be from 3:30-7:00) it can take you well over an hour in driving time alone.

Okay. So maybe it’s not so realistic :(

Thanks for the help!
