Audition for Choral Program Major

Does anyone have experience with the audition process for a Choral Program major? What do they test on (other than the song)? I generally know it is about sight singing, pitch and rhythm - but if anyone has additional insight that will be great. (just to clarify - this is for college admission to direct entry in Undergraduate Choral program - not enrolling in an ensemble for an admitted student). Thanks you,

It depends on the college. Specific audition requirements are usually listed on each college website. Commonly you are required to prepare a piece in English, a piece in Italian, and a piece in another language. Some schools also have a music theory test. I don’t recall if my son encountered sight singing or other exercises.

@SG1071 My daughter is a freshman Choral Music major at USC. When applying, her first choice was Choral Music, but she also considered double majoring in Vocal Performance/Music Education if Choral wasn’t available. The vocal audition process was very similar for Choral vs VP majors, but the interview questions were different. For Choral Music, there was less emphasis on her solo resume and more focus on choir experience, leadership roles, and accomplishments within group settings.
