Any recommendations? I’m a very strong dancer and actor that is a competent singer, just not my main talent lol. I’ve heard to check out Cole Porter and that general time period as the music was written for mainly actors/dancers. Oh, and I’m an alto/mezzo! Thanks for the help in advance guys!

I would also look into the songbook of Kander & Ebb because most of their songs are character songs though I would stay away from Cabaret and Chicago.

unless you’re just looking to build your book and not looking for a main audition song then go right ahead

I would not suggest specific songs without knowing more about your voice. I did want to say - I am a fan of doing the song you are comfortable and confident with - with regard to its being overdone or not. having said that, I love Kander and Ebb - but I will admit that “All That Jazz” does seem to be the go to song for dancers who need a song = so maybe anything other. Best wishes!
