Auditions at Lubin House

Hi All,
My D will be auditioning on January 3rd at the Lubin House. She has an afternoon audition time. Can anyone tell me how long we should allot for the auditions? Are they the type that you need to be there the entire afternoon or is it a relatively quick process?
Thanks.

My D did not audition at Lubin House but did a regional audition at a theatre in DC in Jan. 2008. It was not that long of a process compared to others she attended but that’s because Syracuse held a.m. and p.m. sessions over 2 days. I can’t remember exactly but I believe it was about 2 to 2-1/2 hours total. I recall there being about 12-15 kids in my D’s session.

First the kids all went into a studio to learn the dance; then they did the dance audition with all of them together. Then, they exited the studio and they were called in one by one to sing (if MT) and do their monologues. If you are one of the first to go, then you’re done right away. If you’re one of the last, there’s a bit of waiting but it really wasn’t long at all.

In fact, a bunch of Moms went over to the local Starbucks to wait and one of the girls who had gone early called her Mom and said she was done (she got in by the way). We were all surprised and raced back over to the theatre.

As far as your individual audition goes, many of the students were asked to do more than one of their songs. Then they were redirected and sang them again incorporating the new direction.

Finally, my D is now a sophomore MT at Syracuse. We know of 5 students who are now MT students there in the class of 2012 from that audition weekend in DC. So 1/5 of the current sophomore class came out of the DC regional audition.

Hope that sheds some light though things may have changed since Jan. 2008.
