How did everyones audition go?
I thought the dance was definitely meant for advanced dancers to shine.
Short little assessment before dancing which included plies and touching your toes.
Was asked if I would seriously consider being trained in dance rigorously for 4 years, said yes definitely.
My singing and acting went alright, they were pretty quiet and writing the whole time. Not as open as I hoped and felt kind of rushed. Was anybody asked to repeat their monologue or song with notes? I heard thats a good sign that you probably will be accepted.
Also did everyone sing both songs?

My D was in the other dance room (they had 2 going on simultaneously, with different choreographers), and she said the dance was easy. Kids in the other room said their dance call was VERY difficult. But, I think you and my D had the same room for songs and monologues! One room they didn’t give any adjustments (my D said they didn’t even look up when she slated or sang), didn’t ask any questions, nothing. (Well, they did ask her if she had any questions.)The other room was exactly the opposite. She did sing both songs. I don’t think you can read anything into what they ask you to do and whether you will be accepted or not. There is a thread on the the straight theater forum where one parent said the adjudicator SLEPT through their son’s audition (not sure what school that was), and their son got in.

I guess we just have to have have faith that they are professionals who know how to judge everyone!

My DD is a dancer and so she really appreciated the ballet assessment at the beginning of the dance audition, she also like the jazz portion, but did say is was difficult for non-dancers. She was asked to sing both of her songs and was asked to redo her monologue with a change the gave her. They also talked to her a little, too. She felt really comfortable and like they spent a decent amount of time on her. Others in her room said they felt very rushed and only did one song and their monologue. But like other said, you can’t read too much into any audition. She was the first one of the day, so maybe they were more relaxed at the start.

Were either of you (or your Ds) asked to do acrobatics?

Yes, my DD was. She showed them tap steps and then did a side ariel.

I was asked if I could tap, I did a time step. In my room at least, he asked everyone about tap. He didn’t ask if I could do acrobatics because I don’t have the look of a gymnast at all. If you looked like you could do that cartwheel, he would ask.
I was in the same room that you were in monkey13 because they never looked up even when I slated. However, I did sing both songs and do my monologue. You’re right that it is difficult to read into auditions. Just wanted to hear other people’s experiences. Thanks!
