As of recently I started my final year of high school in Australia doing our version of the finals (HSC) and am already in the process of inquiring about potential sport scholarships in the US, particularly towards rifle shooting.
I know Umich has a team and am seeing if that can extend to international students.

Question is, what is your experience with umich?
Pro’s, cons how it fares with other US universities etc…

Are there any other Aussies there who can shed some light.

You should probably make sure that it’s a scholarship sport, not a club or IM team, although sometimes there’s outside funds (like for the band). I’m sure if you’re qualified for the team you can join it. It’s a terrific place to spend the college years, ideal really. There are a few thousand international students, Aussie included i’m sure, but getting in and paying for it is also harder. Best of luck!

Hey I’m on the rifle team at umich and it is a club sport, so no scholarships unfortunately. From what I know, even the US schools with big rifle programs are not very generous with their scholarships. The only person I’ve heard of getting a full tuition one was competing at olympic levels, so even if you do manage to get a scholarship, it will still be very expensive to come here for school.

I got an email back from Umich basically saying the same thing, I was confused as the NRA site says there are shooting scholarships available, however this no longer seems the case.
Are there any other scholarships that could extend to international students? I’m fine going to uni here, but just the experience of overseas would be great.
