Automated Postal Service Machine

Does anyone know if the APS machines in post offices (which are available even when the post offic is closed (the equivalent of a bank’s ATM machine) really work and if colleges honor it’s date?

*FYI the APS machine prints out stamps with the date of purchase on it. The lady at the post office said that a new stamp is NOT stamped over that date and the date on the stamp is the postmark date. It seems kind of too good to be true? I need to know for the supplement forms! (post offices closed at noon today =/ ).

If you mail the letter/package immediately (same day that postage is purchased), then the postal worker is probably telling the truth.

If you wait a week to actually mail the letter/package, the post office may restamp your mail. So, you still want to mail your stuff the same day that you actually purchase the postage.

actually my friend, whose father has one of these machines in his office, thinks that a new date is NOT stamped. It is a sexy, beautiful machine  good luck too all!
