I applied as an external out of state transfer applicant to UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce. ** I am rejected **

La Gaurdia CC Junior Transfer
Cumulatice GPA: ** 3.82 /b - ** 3.72 /b *My CC overrides the previous grade in a class if the class is repeated.
** 86 credits, 12 in progress, 19 planned /b
… because I speak 4 languages: ** French, English, German & Provencal. **

Other results : UTexas McComb’s - Rejected, UIUC Business - Accepted, Syracuse Whitman - Accepted, BYU Marriott - Accepted.

** Does my rejection from UVA McIntire and UTEXAS McComb’s will mean an automatic rejection from:
(1) NYU Stern
(2) USC Marshall
(3) UCB Haas
(4) WashU Olin
(5) Georgetown McDonough
(6) Cornell AEM

Please help me!!! Aidez-moi !!! **

It may help you assess your chances at other, more competitive schools, but it’s in no way an automatic rejection. You have a pretty good GPA, so i don’t see anything stats wise that would make you an ‘automatic’ rejection. Keep your chin up.
It helps to remember the case of the student who was rejected from NYU and admitted to Harvard. School A doesn’t automatically predict the outcome for the rest of the alphabet.

Undisclosed…really was there a student rejected from NYU and accepted at Harvard?

m.kenien:

Many of the schools you are still waiting to hear from will use your highschool credentials in your evalution also. How do those look?

How are your EC’s?

Almost no chance at Haas.
With the others, you still have some sort of a shot at admittance.

highschool credentials …86 credits …12 in progress… 19 planned for summer? will they matter? Anyways,

I was amongst the Top 10 students at my school for our batch. French Board Examination 85%, GCE O Levels 3 A’s, 4 B’s, 2 C’s and 1 D.

I have EC’s in web-design with French and international agencies, marketing project for Comite Miss France - Miss Lyon Regionale, environment conservation, elocution contests, Treasuer of PTK at our college, Honours concentration, Catholic activities…

dekscholar… I acquisece with you… I have 0.0000001% chance for Berkeley…

I’m not familiar with WashU Olin, but of the others, I’d say your best shots are Marshall and McDonough. Good luck: I’m in the same boat, waiting to hear from Haas, Marshall and McDonough.

dekscholar… both NYU Stern and Cornell (CALS) have articulation agreements with our college… don’t u think that will help?

I’m sure it will help. I’m on the west coast so not quite as familiar with either school.

it won’t mean an automatic rejection from marshall

SCorBust… sorry… I think u misunderstood me… because all the 6 aforementioned business programmes are of somewhat equal calibre… so I thought that rejection from both UTEXAS (ok…that was coz of too many credits) but especially from UVA might eventuate in rejection from the other universities.

dekscholar…thanks for ur west coast appraisal.

m.kenien- i was actually going by your stats. i transferred to usc last year (not marshall), but a majority of the transfers did go to marshall. most of my friends are marshall transfers and your stats are on par with theirs. this is what i’m basing your chances on
