I am wondering how I will fit in. If y’all don’t mind posting your scores :)

I know that some on CC aren’t comfortable posting their own scores or their child’s scores, but since many have personally shared them with me (including some who haven’t posted in the UA section), I can say that the range is all over the place…from about ACT 22 - ACT 34/36.

So, if you’re somewhere in there, you’ll fit right in.

Bama doesn’t have a set minimum, because it gives some allowances to kids who might have lower ACTs, but better GPAs or vice versa. It also takes into consideration that some kids may not have had the best educational opportunites in their home areas.

What are your stats? If you’d rather, you can PM me. :)

With out all of my ECs, my base stats are as follows:

white male junior in high school
28 ACT
8/240 at Decatur (AL) High School

33, but taking ACT scores and measuring yourself against them isn’t always a very accurate assessment of how well they will do in college. I know a few kids who have gotten around my scores who aren’t that smart. I also know smart kids who get mid 20s.

It has always flustered me to see this. I am antipathetic to standardized testing, but it is a sad reality of life.

*I know a few kids who have gotten around my scores who aren’t that smart. I also know smart kids who get mid 20s. *

Very true. Good point!

That’s why I’m glad that UA lets those who don’t have the scores for Honors College at admission, to apply after they’ve demonstrated that they can get the grades to participate in honors.

I love this quote from the Honors College…

*It’s our philosophy to be selective but not exclusive in our admission to the UHP [University Honors Program]: all eligible students are admitted. *

Of course, CBHP and Fellows do have competitive admissions, but UHP is also a great thing to a part of.

When I look over the UHP course offerings, I see courses which are what college is supposed to be about - expanding your mind in a wide range of areas - not just a narrow focus on your major. I’m not saying that there aren’t courses outside of UHP that expand your mind, there certainly are. But, it’s nice to have this “go to” list of classes to easily locate classes that will be small and discussion-based.

I have a 4.0uw GPA
34 ACT score
Rank3/441

hoping that’ll get me into UFE!!!

^^^ I hope it does, too.

I had a 33, but a 28 is great because you are eligible for UHP/IHP. All the bigger scores really mean is that you get more money from UA and stand a better chance of UFE/CBHP admission. Otherwise, an ACT or SAT score doesn’t mean that much. At any reputable university you will be given the chance to prove yourself regardless of your ACT or SAT score because when you enter college, all the stuff you did in hs takes backseat to your college career.

SEA_tide, that was always my hope. It seems just anyway.

Highest Composite:31
Superscored: 33

I think I’m smarter than a 31, but hey, intelligence is more than just a result from some standardized test.

oh…and a kid from my HS got a 32 and he applied to CBHP and UFE
