Average Freshman Year, Perfect Sophomore, Junior and Senior Grades?

This is just a general question that I wanted to pose. Let’s just say that this individual has a 30 ACT, 1450 SAT, and no outstanding extra curriculars. Hypothetically, if this certain individual has an average grade (85%) for his/her freshman year, then that person really stepped up their game during sophomore and junior year attaining 95% or higher in all honors classes, with 1 AP Sophomore year and 5 APs Junior Year. Would selective colleges view the freshman year as a total flaw and reject that individual?

@bryancarden902, colleges like to see an upward trend understanding that some freshman do struggle when they first get to HS. You can’t go back in time to fix things, so I would focus on getting your ACT/SAT higher, and looking for some extra curriculars you are passionate about.

Upward trends are important. Some schools dont even look at freshman year grades. As the above poster noted, for highly selective schools, the ACT/SAT score needs to go up.

Thank you all for your insight!
