Average Salary a lot lower

I was looking at the class of 05 surveys for the students career information at both U. Nebraska and St. Louis University. I was to find out that the average salary for an economics major is $34,000 at Nebraska. With the average salary for an economics major being $42,000 at SLU. With an $8,000 difference, does that mean Nebraska has a weak economics department?

It means Nebraska is in Nebraska and St. Louis is in St. Louis.

What do you mean “It means Nebraska is in Nebraska and St. Louis is in St. Louis.”

If your talking in reference to the cost of living for the two places, there really is no difference. I reside just outside of St. Louis and the cost of living here, isn’t high, and is on average with that of Lincoln.

Not cost of living. Style of living. Where do the economics majors of Nebraska work? (most not in Lincoln, I’m sure.)

That is true Mimi. Here in St. Louis we have Edward Jones, AG Edwards, and Scottrade, which I can name off the top of my head. The only major financial firm I can think of up in Nebraska would be Berkshire Hathaway. But with Berkshire, I’d imagine most of the jobs are given to the ivy league graduates. I do know a lot of the Nebraska graduates work in Kansas City, but I’m not framilar with any financial firms over there.
