Average SAT for 2011 Harvard Applicant: Analysis

HI Guys, I’m not trying to stir up panic or anything, but I was bored so I did some statistical Analysis for Harvard applicants on CC, and here is what I came up with  Of course, this is all with significant figures taken into consideration… the actual numbers crunched out weren’t nearly so neat…
Remember, THIS IS JUST SAT, IT’S NOT EVERYTHING, PEOPLE WITH SCORES BELOW AS WELL AS ABOVE THIS RANGE HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED :)

**Average SAT score of all CC Applicants (those who reported): **
**Total: 2240 /B
**Average Math Score: 760 /B
**Average CR score: 730 /B

My Conclusion? Harvard Applicants are Crazy :)

My lord that must have taken forever. Where did you gather all this info from? The decisions threads from past cycles? Just this year’s early cycle?

And Wow at the sameness of the scores

not to bust your bubble or anything, but cc Harvard applicants with lower SAT scores might have refrained from posting their scores, and cc Harvard applicants w/ high sat scores would be more likely to post their scores. Your numbers might be inflated.

Actually, it took 10 minutes (I love microsoft excel.) I got the scores from the stat profile listing in this forum, so it’s not everyone on CC, just people who posted their scores :)

Brownman: That’s true entirely true  I just wanted some sort of analysis on what’s going on. Moreover, some applicants took the ACT and left the SAT blank. But this is the best I could do under the circumstance

i say well done :)

Just for putting yourself through the drudgery, I say you deserve a round of applause! :P

Good job.
And, according to this data, I’m an “average CC applicant” (in terms of SATs). I’m not sure if that’s a compliment or not… heh.

Nice work…any SAT II stats? Mine are very low in comparison with others on this board, and I’m just curious to see what sort of numbers have been accepted in the past.

number crunching is fun

good stats… but of course remember that CC is only a slither of the total applicants, and those who post stats are very much a self-selected group.

A slither lol

dont you mean sliver? lol

the deffer did better than the accepted
that shows SAT is not the main focus for admissions

it doesn’t show anything

it’s just interesting to see the CC dynamic

too much nonresponse bias involved…

Haha, c’mon, chill. As I’ve said, I just felt like crunching some numbers to see if I could make a Kiwi out of it. Honestlt, I don’t think its a good indicator of much beside the “average posted scores of cc members applying to harvard” If one thing I know about statistics, it’s that it is a broad generalization. So just chill and enjoy laughing and the fat, brown little bird that not only shares a name, but also looks like a fruit…

make a Kiwi, what?

kiwi…lol ummmmmmmm

Isn’t “kiwi” also a term for the people of New Zealand? I think LOTR taught me that.
