Average Sophmore Looking to go to MIT

Well, I’m a sophomore in high school, and I get average grades, I have about a 3.68 GPA, not exactly perfect, but I have an extremely strong desire to attend MIT. So, I figure it’s best to get started as early as possible, I’m about one forth of the way through sophomore year, which in retrospect is probably a little late, but I have to work with what I have.

Basically I need to know what I should start doing now, besides SAT prep and bringing up my GPA to a 4.0. I need to know what I can do now that will pay off when I’m applying to MIT so that I can stand out against the thousands of applicants that have had a 4.0 since 5th grade.

ANY suggestions are greatly appreciated, I just hope I’m starting early enough to make a difference. Also, if anyone has links to good websites, I would love to take a look. Thank you.

First thing first, move this to an appropriate subforum
Second thing, join all EC’s you can, get involed in a lot. Do stuff on the side of school, do something UNIIQUE (in fact, dont even tell anyone bout it!).

Be as devoted as you can during high school (it will get tough and stressful) and you should be able to get into MIT.

Try to win a Fields Medal. That usually works.

One of the best ways would be to realize that the MIT does not use the common application…

Anyway you should focus on science/math kind of comptitions/EC’s
