Average Starting Salary

<p>I know that most people would take the engineering route for computer science, but recently, they allowed for a math/computer science combined major. I was wondering what the difference in starting salary would be. Keep in mind the compsci/engineering is in the engineering department of uiuc while compsci/math is part of the liberal arts and science department of uiuc. Thanks</p>

<p>No real difference in salary. The engineering route may actually have a higher starting salary because UIUC engineering is much more prestigious than LAS. You also take more computer science courses in the engineering route than the LAS route. I don’t recommend getting a combined major unless both two fields are relevant to your interests/career.</p>

<p>I agree, but in terms of admission, it is by each department right? Technically compsci/compe is a combined major, but I feel like it might not be worth it.</p>
