Average Student Needs Feedback

This year I will be a senior boarding student at a good Prep. School located in New England. I am an average student with a GPA of 2.75 (C+) with initial SAT Scores (no prep) of 1490 (490 Reading 540 Math, 440 Writing (8). My high school courses are college level prep and have taken challenging courses (no AP). I always try my best, attend extra help, get excellent efforts on my report card ect…but continue to get average grades and test scores)I am currently taking private SAT Prep. with a tutor over the summer with hopes of improving my SAT scores on the upcoming October test. I am also well respected at my school, belong to the Spanish Club, Dorm Leader, Job Leader, and Varsity Lacrosse Captain.

I am hoping to attend a mid to upper level liberal arts college (College of Wooster Ohio, Washington College Maryland, Ursinus Pennsylvania, ect…) Based on my research I am close to most of their admission requirements, but am afraid that colleges will have a tendency to overlook me based on my average academic standing. I feel I have alot to offer all of these schools and feel that I could handle the academics. I am looking for feedback from anyone who is in my position and or has experience from being a similar student. Or should I re-think my choices based on my academic standing and having a slim chance of being admitted.
