I’m an average student (3.67 uw, 3.86 w, 1710 SAT, 26 ACT) who got accepted into Cal Poly. However, I need lots of scholarships in order to pay for my schooling. I’m a California resident. My parents make around $48,000 and there’s 6 people in my family. I’m their first child, and I’m a first generation born US citizen in my family. My parents immigrated from Eastern Europe a year before I was born. I know there’s tons of scholarships out there, but I’m not a super great writer so I doubt I’ll be winning any of those big $10,000+ scholarships. I haven’t started my own business and I’m not on my way to finding a cure to any diseases like many amazing people on here. I’m just your average student. So I’d like to know if there are any scholarships out there for me. Any suggestions?

Did you apply for financial aid?

Check with your guidance office at school. Often there are local scholarships and they are for a broad range of students. They are usually not huge amounts, but they do add up.

for financial aid at Cal Poly, you just have to apply through FAFSA and from that they determine you for the school’s scholarships.

my counselor has only gave us a few. she said more local ones will be coming later in the spring.

i was just wondering if there were any other options for me.
