Average test scores... Could I be accepted?

SAT: 1420 with a 21 on the essay portion
ACT: 31 with a 9 on the essay portion
I also took the SAT Subject Tests, scoring around a 700 on Bio M, Math 1, Spanish, Chemistry, and US History…wasted so much money on these…

I’m planning on majoring in chemistry and pursuing medicine.
I’m applying to Penn, Duke, UVA, W&M, and Case Western…already accepted to my safety school.

I am fairly involved in my extracurriculars:
Band/orchestra: first chair/principal player in school, District, and Region; community orchestra; also participated in All-State; performed in several masterclasses; won awards; drum major for 2 years

Work: I work about 25 hours/week…but I make snow cones. I also cater…but I am not interested in pursuing a career in either of these jobs, haha.

Service: President of National Honor Society (started tutoring program through high school, run meetings, organize various service events); Vice President of Key Club (started fundraiser for Partners in Health, help run meetings/organize various service events); also volunteered at a hospital over the summers in the post-anesthesia care unit; volunteer at the church

Honor societies: Secretary of Mu Alpha Theta, Vice President of Spanish Honor Society, member of Tri-M Music Honor Society

Clubs: Model UN, President of Spanish Club

…I feel like my extracurriculars are all over the place, but I do thoroughly enjoy all of them. I do spend most of my time on music…but with my test scores, I feel like I’m not competitive for Duke nor Penn…

Accepted to where?

VCU!

Sorry, accidentally posted my thread before finishing it, haha

My OOS daughter was accepted to W&M with a 1440 on her SATs.

Penn and Duke are reach schools for everyone, so it’s hard to determine your chances for either of those, really, and being accepted to UVA for out of state applicants is extremely difficult. however, i think you stand a good chance at W&M and CWRU. CWRU values applicants who demonstrate though, so make sure you do that.

Average national ACT is between 21 and 22. Misleading title to this thread.

@Portercat I’m assuming they mean average for these schools. (for some, maybe penn and duke 1420/31 is probably below average).

The average ACT score in the USA is between 20 -21
