I am going on exchange to UNC for the fall semester and have been given housing in Avery residence hall.

I am going mainly for the social experience of college so I kind of wanted to stay in one of the south campus freshman dorms. Could any one help me out by telling me what Avery is like socially comapred to them?

Furthermore, if I wanted to change residence halls could I do that?

I think you’ll be fine in Avery. It is in a better location than South Campus dorms, so the walk won’t kill you. And I think people who live in the Middle Campus dorms are a pretty tight-knit community, so it will still be fun and social. Changing halls is possible because I’ve had friends do so, but I think you usually have to have a really good reason (like your room doesn’t have AC and your allergies can’t handle it, ha ha).

Avery is a great dorm in a really good location, but can be a little quiet. It really depends on how social your suitemates are though. I think it’s a good place to be.
