AVID hurtful or helpful when applying for colledge?

Guys I am in AVID and have been in it for 3 years so far and will also take it my senior year. Will colleges look at me and think that I am a person who is not prepared for college or will they actually look at me over others?

I’m personally not a big fan of AVID but most AVID teachers seem to say it looks good on apps and shows that you’re ready for college. Especially since some of the teachers are really demanding and the program requires you to do community service. At my school the AVID program demands that you:
-do at least 20 hours of community service a year
-do two or more honors courses
-help out at student events
-tutor classmates or younger children
-take the PLAN or PSAT test
-and gives you free stuff for ACT and SAT practices which you must do

However, depending on what school you want to go to, you can get some pretty good scholarships just for being an AVID student. I’m actually thinking of trying the program out just for that. So all in all AVID shows that you’re a determined student willing to do things other students might not be willing to do. You do things that involve you in your community, prepares for college, and take the most rigorous courses available to you.
