I’m not to interested in all-girls and Suffield is my would-be safety school (if I decide to apply).

Although, I would love to get in some great 1st runs so if someone can give me pointers? Have you interviewed here? Any challenging/specific questions asked? What vibe did you get? I know Suffield isnt to known or prestigous but I’m hoping someone could give me some advice :)

Make sure you ask questions - things you want to know! This is a two way fit!
Miss Porter’s will have a new head of school next year. You might want to ask how that will affect the school.

Just be yourself! That’s the best advise I can give. My son has (we think, but then we are not in the room so who knows) really well because he has been himself. Sounds obvious, but works.
Also, don’t rule out an all-girls school. Go in open minded and you might be surprised.
Good luck!

I’ve decided not to apply to Suffield, I believe. It wasn’t a good “fit” or warm and fuzzy like a school I would consider. It was my 1st interview and I think it was great for a 1st try, I was pretty happy with it.

When I got to Miss Porters I immediately loved it. The girls were all in jeans and in groups talking to each other, which made me happy. Again with the warm and fuzzy. They had me sit in on a class and all the girls were so nice and were asking me where I was from and how I liked the school. The interview, again, was good. This time my interviewer asked me more questions but I handled them well. They didnt have my transcripts so when my mom “casually” asked if I would do well at Miss Porters she said she couldnt tell by much, but my personality was what they were looking for.

That’s great! We had a similar experience with Loomis and Old Avon Farms. Felt nothing at Loomis. I could tell from my son’s body language that he didn’t feel comfortable there. Walked onto the campus of Old Avon Farms and he was at home right away.
We worried so much about finding the right “fit” and people told me you “just do.” Your experience GMW and ours certainly proves that.

It’s not far at all Girl…A few miles I think. Avon boys use the MPS pool for their swim team and MPS and Avon do plays together and lots of social events. One of the students at Avon told us it is a “co-ed campus” on weekends because so many of the girls from Miss Porters are there so much.
