Ayers = Asian?

I stayed in CRC on Preview NU, and I didn’t get the chance to tour ACCI, but a few people told me I wouldn’t like it as it’s “ridiculously Asian.”

I’m pretty whitebread, but race doesn’t really bother me. That said, does ACCI have a higher Asian percentage than the school as a whole? I was thinking it’d be a good balance if I’m going to be an engineer, but I dunno.

yes, ayers has a higher asian population than many of the other dorms, but it’s not entirely asian by any means. It DOES have that reputation, however (cci is sometimes nicknamed college of chinese and indians).

if you ask me, though, it doesn’t pose any huge problem. I’m white and i hang out there pretty often.

ACCI=Ayers College of Chinese and Indians ;-)

But in seriousness, it’s a great building–one of the nicer dorms, along with Kemper and Slivka. As purposeful said, I wouldn’t worry about it.

::race doesn’t really bother me::

better not, we have a lot of diversity on campus and we don’t like racists.

hmmm… that statement is tinged with irony…

Ayers is one of my top choices but I have a couple of questions

 1. I’m worried about walking to south campus b/c I’ll be majoring in econ, and idk if it will be a pain to get to my classes in the winter. Is it hard or manageable?
 2. FOOD. There’s no food court or dining hall indoors at CCI right? How far do you have to go to get food, and do you have to step OUTDOORS to get food or can you manage without going outside. It can get real cold…

If you’re scared of stepping outdoors… don’t come to northwestern. it’s not like you step outside and die… just wear a jacket! Maybe some gloves!

Being up north you will be able to eat in plenty of nearby food places such as Lisa’s Cafe or Sargent’s dining hall. Maybe a 3 minute walk, stop stressing!

There is no set place for econ classes. You will have them in tech, leverone, annenberg, etc. So it doesn’t really matter where you live.

walking outside is manageable… you’ll get used to putting on extra clothes… or get used to walking in the cold, hehe. i’m from los angeles, i got used to it.

food places are still pretty close to cci, as dfleish said with lisa’s cafe or sargent. also, what a lot of people do is order in food from evanston restaurants. a lot of restaurants do free delivery for northwestern students (like philly’s best, etc.)
