Just checked the undergraduate B-school Ranking. It really confused me since I gave up UIUC gies to Babson. Their ranking is quite different. Gies is at 14 while babson is 36. I’m not quite sure whether my decision is right or not. What kind of schools are considered at the same level as babson in your guy’s opinion?
When I suggest a sampling of schools for business, I’ll mention Penn, Babson and Richmond, mostly because each offers distinctive characteristics. In examples such as these, you may be able to comfortably deemphasize general business rankings as long as your chosen school suits your interests and goals.
Don’t worry about rankings which change every year. Babson and UIUC are very different schools. If Babson is affordable and feels like the best fit, then you made the right choice. Your post-graduation success will be dependent on what YOU accomplish during college rather than which one of these fine schools you attend.st
That is not different in any substantive way, IMO.
Babson is a VERY different feel than UIUC would be, though. In a situation like this I would encourage attending which one you like better and feel more comfortable…How you do in college will matter WAY more than which one of those 2 you attend.
Also, are the rankings you are looking at scoring on things that matter to you?
Both are excellent business schools. Babson College has a much better location and is a highly respected business school.
If helpful, Babson overlap schools over the last 5 years have been -
Wharton and Stern - kids almost never select Babson
Northeastern, BU, BC, Miami, Tulane - kids 50/50 select Babson
Kelley, Bentley, - Kids almost always select Babson
UIUC is a solid school, but the state school bump-ups associated with silly ranking criteria make them no better than a simple college search of schools that have a business major.
