so how big a backpack should i look for? at the moment i’m thinking about getting a north face borealis backpack so i can carry a few notebooks and my laptop around. will this be enough? or should i look for something larger?

Make sure your particular laptop will fit in the backpack. Also, are you going to use a laptop sleeve or does the backpack have one in it? Very important, as it adds protective padding around the laptop. Otherwise, a backpack would probably be okay. May I offer another suggestion? What about a messenger bag, made for use with laptops? You can check out ebags.com website (look at laptop backpacks and laptop messenger bag categories) and also Timbuktu website.

i was thinking about getting a bookbag that had a laptop compartment w/at least some padding and then getting a laptop sleeve. at the moment i already have a mesenger bag but it’s a bit uncomfortable to use to lug around. a timbuktu is nice but i kinda want to get a versatile bag that doesn’t scream “expensive laptop inside!”…i just thought a regular backpack would be more discernable

fitting a laptop is the only essential feature. just don’t get a bag that’s too bulky.
