I’m looking at Northwestern, Tulane, and Dartmouth as my top choice, and I definitely feel like i need backup schools. Based on the fact that I like schools like Northwestern, Tulane, Dartmouth, Tufts, Pomona, Brown, and Duke, what schools would be good backups for me?

It’s impossible for people to give you safety schools without knowing your stats.

GPA, test scores, etc. Also, the most important part of choosing safeties are making sure you can financially afford them. You should be safe financially and academically. How much are your parents willing to pay per year for school and what state are you in?

Other important factors to you? Size? Location? Etc?

If you like Pomona and Brown, but are looking for somewhat less selective, try Reed, Macalester and Grinnell. If you are a guy, consider Vassar. These aren’t safeties though - they tend to be matches for those who aspire to highly selective schools like Pomona and Brown.
