My brother applied to Mary Washington RD and we STILL haven’t received any letter at all–no acceptance, rejection, nothing. The first time we called the admissions office we were told from his stats that he should’ve gotten in and they would notify us within the week. It’s been 2 weeks and still nothing, even after 2 more phone calls.
My brother decided to go to Christopher Newport instead, but has anyone else just had terrible service with the colleges they applied to? This can’t be good for business at the smaller schools you’d assume.
Call the admissions office and ask for a supervisor right away. Tell them what’s happened and what their plans are to rectify this. Before you get off the phone, ask this supervisor the name of his/her supervisor and if the solution isn’t to your satisfaction, you’ll be speaking with that person the next morning.
You’ve run into complacent or incompetent people. Check them on that. If done without a rude spirit but with just an expectation of good customer service, you can get a lot accomplished – use this tact in other scenarios too.
It does sound like they dropped the ball. If it was a school he cared about I would have gone up the ladder to get a decision. For all the frustrations, I tell my kids not to pay too much attention to the admissions departments – one they make an admissions decision you don’t see or hear from them again for the rest of your time in the school.
