bad essay topic?

For all you college admissions officers/current college students, would it be wise to write my essay about my passions for Bigfoot/cryptzoology as it relates to my interest in science, or would it be better to write about UFO’S/crop circles, seeing as many people do not believe in Bigfoot. Thanks!

Very definitely chose Bigfoot. Demonstrating too much familiarity with UFOs could lead to your abduction by ETs and unexplained disappearance from Earth, causing your parents pain and distress. In contrast, Bigfoot is unlikely to journey to MA no matter what you write about him.

There must be a better topic than either one of these ideas.

I am not a college student, so please feel free to ignore me, but if I have learned anything from my recent bout of obsession with college admissions, it is that nothing is a bad essay topic if you can find something meaningful to say about it.

These topics sound a little bit ridiculous to me, but it is by no means impossible for you to craft this into an amazing essay, as long as Bigfoot is not the main topic, but rather, the focus is on your love of science.

Write it, and see if you can very quickly take it somewhere insightful. Good luck

^I agree 100% with jaysha. Any topic can work, as long as the reader gets a sense of who you are and what you consider is important about yourself.

12lynce: what do you think the purpose of the essays is for? Just to allow students to rue about some particular thought on their mind? The colleges want to know what makes you tick – to see if you care about people around you, to see if you are a person of influence, to see if you are mature.

Let me say this: If you’re avoiding Bigfoot as an essay topic because you feel that people believe more in UFOs and Crop circles, let me put you at ease. The equally disbelieve both.

sorry T26E4, but that was rather rude. i actually have a really strong interest in Bigfoot, even though you may find it comical, and feel that my interest in science/medicine/disease springs from my interest in Bigfoot. I feel as though my curiosity as to whether or not he/she exists is synonymous for wanting to be a doctor- to use symptoms from the human body as an indication for disease. similar to how cryptzoologists use recording, moldings, video, accounts, and various other measurements that support its existence.
