Bad GPA Junior Year First Semester

My GPA this semester was really bad, about a 3.0, and my GPA sophomore year was also about a 3.0

Precalc: A-
AP Bio: B
AP Psych: B-
English 11H: B+
Spanish: B+
USH: B

SAT SCORE: 1980

I’m a california resident and I want to get into a UC, but I don’t think I can. If I manage to get a 4.0 next semester, will it help my college admissions?? what do i do??? I’m really stressed out about this whole thing.

It looks like you are a 3.0 kind of student. You’ll need to find appropriate schools for that and your scores. There are many great schools in CA that you can still get into.

UC schools will recalculate that GPA. The AP Bio will become an A, the AP Physics will be A-, English A+. It might not be as bad as you think. SAT score is decent. You may not get into UCLA or Berkeley but there are other great UC schools you have a chance at.

Here is the UC GPA calculator: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
10-11th grades for the a-g courses are used and you get 1 extra honors point for each semester of UC approved Honors/AP/IB or DE courses taken. You can look up your HS course designations on this link:

UC’s do not use +/- designation for their grades. If you can get above a 3.5 UC GPA by end of Junior year, you have a chance at several of the UC’s and also consider some top Cal states.
