Bad grade point for Latin

What will MIT think of this? I currently have a 5.4 for Latin with an overall GPA of 7.4 (out of 10) (Latin included). I attend a very small public grammar school in the Netherlands (school with Latin and advanced placement courses only) With 7.3 and 5.7 for Latin I ranked third of my class (~30 students) when my secondary school report was filled in. How much percent of the US high school students have Latin? Is this grade for Latin bad for my app?

My mentor (sort of guidance counselor) already wrote in the secondary school report that i have an excessive involvement in EC’s and that I would have even higher grades. My grade point for Latin is slightly below average at my school. A third of all grammar school freshmen (no doubt that these scholars are already at top 5% of the whole Dutch educational system) are unable to complete this. Should I state this in my midyear report or does this sound too arrogant?

This will probably not negatively affect you. You have no need to explain your grade, and doing so may indeed make you seem arrogant. You’re wise to realize this.

Focus on the positives in your mid year report. Veel geluk!
