bad idea to take the SATs a 4th time?

self explanatory…

no, if your score has been improving each time. shows motivation and drive on your part

how much of a change did u see b/n 2nd and 3rd time? it also depends wat ur current highest is. if you have 2270+ i dont think its worth it to re-take

well lets see…

i have a 1960 right now as my highest score…it went up from a 1720, and it just went back down to an 1850 (Dec. scores)…do you guys think that its a good idea to take em in january, considering that i have a 610 sat II chem, 600 mathIc, and 560 u.s. history sat II score (btw i was originally planning to take the IIs again in january).

I would stick with the SAT II’s. They wouldn’t add up as high as your SAT I, and they generally are supposed to be higher because of the curve they usually give. Unless of course you’re applying to UF and you have NOWHERE on your application to stick them. Stupid UF lol.

You should join my 100 point loss club for the SAT. We both went down 110 points (2030 to 1920 for me).

it would be really bad if you didn’t improve at all or only improved minimally (20-30 points)
i was facing the same problem when i got my nov SAT results (my third time) and I didn’t improve at all in CR, in which I had a 620 and that score was way below the 25th percentile for some of the schools i am applying to
but I went ahead and took it in dec and improved 70 pts in CR to a 690
my advice is take it but if you didnt feel like you did especially well on the test, then cancel the scores

I’ve taken them 4 times and improved every time (from a 2120 to a 2310)

I took the SAT two times, and this time scored a 2110. Too bad I don’t even have a chance to take it four times! I know I could break a 2200 if I just had another chance. :(

well i mean…my breakdown is 660M 620 V 680 W

and i plan to apply to

idk what to do…

I really don’t think its a good idea to take it a fourth time. I just recently took my test the 3rd time and pretty much maxed out on the second, and it looks like you have too.

But if you feel you can make a significant improvement (100+ pt) then by all means do it. But you would have to take proactive steps to get such a great improvement.

NA123 - i suggest you post your queries on the Tufts thread. You’ll get lots of Tufts/EDII specific answers there from recent alums, current students, and kids who got in EDI.
