Hi, I’m a Junior in an international school in South Korea.
So… my grades were posted after finals and turns out that I got an A- in AP Language (which isn’t so great, since I’m a humanities-heavy person), Spanish 4, and a B+ in Pre-Calculus.
This adds up to a weighed GPA of 4.01 and an unweighed GPA of 3.80 (this is my first time in the 3.80’s…)
I guess I’m on a slow downward trend since my weighed GPA’s from Freshman first semester and up until Junior first semester has been 4.0, 3.95, 4.02, 3.97, and 4.01 & unweighed GPA has been 4.0, 3.95, 3.95, 3.90, and 3.80.
I am heavily involved in extracurricular activities at school; I’ve been an officer for National Honor Society since Sophomore year, played the lead role in every high school play including the past fall show, been in Varsity Cheer since freshman year (recently made the national team!), as well as placing at every speech competition.
My parents are currently going through a divorce, which led up to me being emotionally overwhelmed and that transferring to my academics.
If I let my college counselor know about this and hopefully explain it in the college apps, would this have a big impact on my chances of getting into top colleges?
When I talked to the school psychologist about my problem, he did tell me that he would definitely let my teachers be aware of the issue during the second semester.
I am willing to do whatever it takes to get all A’s (4.21 weighed, 4.0 unweighed) in my Junior year second semester and Senior year first semester.
I was looking forward to applying ED to either Brown or UPenn, but I’m worried that my grade this semester would leave an irreplaceable flaw in my stats… Would someone please give me advice/guidance? (:
Thanks & Happy Holidays!
