Bad junior year = lose all hope??

I just moved to a new country new school new everything this year… and i have to admit it was rather hard even though im accustomed to moving all over. in short iv had a not so hot junior year … usually i have very good grades ( straight as and A+'s in honor classes etc…) yet this year my grades have fallen then what they would have been normally (we don’t have the abcd/gpa system yet when converting, its not anything awful like a c but a scatter of bs and as). also im doing full ib- lots of hls. So does a not so good junior year mean that i can kiss my rather hiiggghh college hope sgoodbye??

Not at all. Although it does make HYP more of a reach.
Rank matters more. Is it normal for the better students at your school to get a few B’s in IB classes? It should be since they’re meant to be college-level.

thr is a total of 7 ppl in my grade…and i have the highest grades out of all of them, i dont think id use tht as a comparison, or should i?? they rnt very good students per say…

What school do you go to???

an international schol in Kazakhstan… im sure u wouldnt know it

you sound like me- i moved too and was much worse- got a couple d’s and all that… my predicted grades were my saving grace though- nothing less than a 6- and that got me into all the schools i wanted… and if you’re still worried- write “extenuating circumstances” essays if you think you need it (i wouldn’t think so). i got into mcgill arts-sci (one of their really competitive offerings- 10% admit or such- that must not sound that competitive to you but for mcgill, it is…) with just my grades… no ECs, no recs, no essays… if wherever you will apply asks for that- they won’t even care that much if everything else (SATs, whatever) gives the “you package” and edge

o ya??? did u write “extenuating circumstances” essays?? i thought bout that then i was like it would probably make me look weak…which i really am not… its just tht moving to Kazakhstan was quite a shock for me… my grades came down to 6s and some few 5s maybe even a 7 or 2 hmmm i dont know my final grades tho, i also dont know my predicted grades yet … im thinking theyll be like urs - well hopeing at least-.

This exactly happens to me!

where did u go confused?

I went to Virginia from the MidWest

It’s all in the way you write the essay- make sure you include loads about how this was a growing experience, what you’ve learned from it, bla bla. I actually didn’t send mine to McGill and I was still accepted… so it’s really up to you. If you want I can send you mine and you can decide if that sort of thing would be a benefit or a detriment to your application…

o cool ya tht would b pretty helpful…you can email it to me if you want: kazakhistan2004■■■■■■.com
