Bad Oct 14 Scores

My scores were:
440–Literature
440–US History
400–Math L1

I was actually shocked by this. I take college courses and I do just fine–Straight A’s. I was kind of shocked by the material on the tests–I am not familar with the AP tests, but there were exerpts from people and then they asked you to identify the author. Kind of a monopoly that College Board has set up here. If you don’t take the AP tests and prepare with their materials, it’s much harder to do well–that’s my perspective anyway.

Anyone prepare with the AP curriculum and do better? How about alone, without the AP curriculum?

What should I do now that I have these test scores?

without the AP curriculum i scored well above 200 points higher on each of those tests (math 2 instead of math 1). sorry, i dont think not having taken the AP test is the issue.

Well… since you also scored poorly in math (in fact that’s your worse score) I can hardly believe “CB’s monopoly” is the problem. But it may be just me…

i have always been taught by a UK cirricuculum and I have found that my SAT II scores dont match the externally-moderated exams I take through UK testing agencies such as Cambridge. For example, the IGCSE exams test material equally as difficult as the SAT IIs, but in a very different format.

So yes, I do think there is a benefit to being taught according to the American AP cirriculum.

However, I do NOT feel that any cirriculum can be held responsible for 400s on the SAT II. None of my scores were lower than 600, even without being taught in America.

I reccomend you PRACTICE. you need to become familiar with the types of questions on the SAT II, because clearly they are something you have not had exerpience with. and then you need to take the tests again, and prove that the first time was a fluke.

good luck.

well i did very poorly as well
660-Chem
680 MATH IIC
i was expecting somethjing in the range oof 700-740 in both…

i dont think that was any consolation to him.

well it might not b… just showing him that he isnt alone…

yeah… your definition of “poorly” seems to be quite different from his… a 600 is way better than a 400…

■■■■■ seriously…

whoah, 400? Perhaps you fell asleep during the test or just didn’t put the effort into studying? Don’t blame college board or the educational system in America. It shouldn’t be held accountable when you don’t put the effort in.

I think my math II was scored incorrectly…o.o

i still think a 680 on the IIC with its gracious curve and a 660 on the chem with its level of difficulty is exremely poor!

collegejunkmail - uhh… then what you do now depends
on if you think you really know the material. do you think
it was a scoring error, like all answers were shifted ?
i was even under the impression that 400 was the minimum score
you could ever possibly get, and that all testers are basically given
400 from the get-go, so no one everends up with a score of 0
on the test.

just retake and make sure you
get 700s the second time. or even 800s, because what would be
cooler than going from 1200 to 2400? hahaha…
