Bad parent essay

Hi, so I know the title was dramatic, I’m not trying to be rude towards my parents I just needed some help.
I’m a first generation immigrant in North America and my parents do not speak a word of English. i always translated, did allthe english work etc. but for the essays, they had some help from friends and managed to translate their thoughts from Korean to English. because of their short english fluency, the length of the essays are only 500 characters. is this bad? should i ask them to write a new one? I think they will be up to write a new one as they were also lamenting how “bad” it is but do they really matter? thanks!

I think the whole point of having parent essays is to know more about you from an adult’s perspective who knows you very well. Schools will consider that not all parents are perfectly fluent in English during their admissions process. The length doesn’t matter as long as they stick to the content and question asked. You could rewrite them, but it’s not necessary.

500 characters? Average 5 characters per word, they wrote 100 word essay?

I think it is more about the content/sentiment they can give. BSs are familiar with dealing with parents that come from different countries/languages/ educational backgrounds. I imagine that the school is aware that they are 1st gen. immigrants.

Good luck. I am sure their love for you came shining through.

It doesn’t matter. I am a parent with 2 kids that attended 2 of the tsao schools and I barely wrote anything and didn’t check my grammar either. I think the most important thing is the applicant.
