Why do I see Cornell always getting a bad connotation and rap all over the boards? I’m just curious.

Um…what kinda answer do expect to your question?

I never noticed it consistently getting a bad rap…do you have an example or something…every school gets bad-mouthed somewhere or another on this forum…it won’t have a bad connotation on this sub-forum at least…:o

because the people here are huge tools.

whats a tool?

In real life Cornell doesn’t have it (cept for suicide rumor)…it’s just that on CC there are a bunch of highschoolers think they are all the best in the world and that they can make fun of anything not ranked #1 in the world. They are idiots and get a reality check later and then join the rest of the world in respecting Cornell’s greatness. :)

Cornell has a high acceptance rate…

but thats partly becuase the school is soo big, if you see how many people cornell rejects…its more than most ivies…

but there’s also more opportunity to get in.

I mean Michigan has a really high acceptance rate but its still an excellent world renown school…

it’s like a nicer form of ■■■■■■■■■, sarahhhh…

yeah, this board is full of idiots … you can still be stupid and have an ivy league degree.

Most people dicredit Cornell because of it’s astronomically high acceptance rate of 21%. I’m not sure if this happens becuase of extreme arrogance or extreme stupidity, but both are qualities I pity.

most private universities/colleges only have 1-3k students…cornell has 13k students…its easier to get into cornell because there are more spots…and more colleges

I think it’s because they only see higer education as unipolar, thinking that there could only be one “great” school, which also happens to be the one they are going to attend. Basically every university gets nasty comments from student NOT attending it. You can say that Harvard sucks because all the rich kids attend it, or that University of Chicago sucks because it is not an Ivy League member, or even that Cornell sucks just because they accept 21% of the people that apply. They are millions of things they can use to “justify” their unreasonable dislike of the university. And by the way, 21% is very close to the acceptance rate of Caltech.

… I saw this thread and before I clicked it, I thought about T.I. and his little body and big mouth go at it on Slope Day (what a joke… lol).

Anyways… like a lot of people have stated, a lot of schools get bad raps about them… again mostly by high schoolers who think they’re entitled to HYP and then whine and cry and lament the fact that they ended up at gasp! Duke.

I’ve also heard Cornell being called the worst ivy. Even if this were true (which it’s not, there is no worst ivy or best ivy strictly speaking, there’s only worst or best fit for each individual), what do they call the med or Ph.D student who graduates bottom of his class? They call him Doctor. What do they call the M.S. student who graduates at the top of his class? It’s certainly not “Doctor.”
