im a sophomore. i wanna get into ucsb but my dream is berekley. ive had really bad grades all year but i decided to have a turnaround and am working my butt off till the end of the year. im scared the bad soph grades will affect my chances of being accepted. however, i do play sports, and i have a disability (add and studdering). i also help out in the community. will that increase my chances? pleAse help. thx

Extra curricular activities mixed with the good grades that you’ll eventually earn will definitely increase your chances. It would also help if you’re totally dedicated to your sport. Colleges don’t just look at grades, not even UCs. They care about well-rounded students, and you seem like one. Community service is excellent for applications, too!
