What should I do if I live in a bad state with no good state universities? I live in Maine…

Apply to one or two in state universities for safeties. Then apply to some schools out of state or privates. Most people do that.

Apply to Bowdoin College, of course ;)

You live in Maine…but you also live in the U.S. which has the best schools in the world. Btw it’s not illegal to apply to outside schools, give it a shot.
Besides people at prestige schools come from all over the nation if not the world!

UMaine is not a bad school.

Maine sucks, I live in Cape Elizabeth, right outside portland, I’m going to get as far away as possible. You’re screwed if you live in maine for good public colleges.

I would consider applying to the University of Connecticut (first choice) and the University of New Hampshire, and any of the many good schools in Massachusetts (depending upon your GPA and SAT scores and ECs, of course).

Good luck.

Apply to the University of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, UVA, and Penn State
