bad teacher recommendation

is it possible to complain to a principle about a terrible teacher recommendation? i asked for hard copies and i just read them even though im not really supposed to. I accidentally sent in that terrible recommendation online on one of my schools. What can i do to fix this?

DEFINITELY tell the principal; I’m sure others don’t want to be in the same sitch. At least, I would.

I would call the school you applied to and ask if you can send another rec. Ask someone else who you KNOW will write a better one; then send that one to all the rest of the schools.

this teacher wrote about me in such a bad light. so would it really be okay if i just go talk to the principal about this? when i read it, it didnt even seem like a recommendation. my counselor rec was really good. Also if i talk the school about this they would know that i read the recommendation. is this okay? i really want to just nail this teacher down

Did you sign the paper stating that you would not read the rec.? If so, you might want to let it go but ask another teacher to submit another recommendation.

why did you ask that teacher in the first place -.-?

i wouldn’t recommend talking to the principal simple because it’s the teacher’s opinion. and if for some reason others agree, that teacher can’t really be punished. but if you know it was intentional, i’d talk to your counselor before going to the principal. and depending on college’s deadline, i wouldn’t see a problem with sending more recommendations. don’t tell them you read the bad one, just say a few came in late (or something along those lines) and you wanted to know if it was too late for them to be considered.

If the teacher wrote bad things about you, I would say it is worth approaching the teacher and having a conversation. If the teacher merely wrote a bland recommendation, then there is nothing you can really do, as it was your choice to ask him/her in the first place.

Don’t complain to a principal. First, your teacher didn’t have to write you anything. It wasn’t his/her job. Second, as previously stated, you chose him/her in the first place. Third, complaining to superiors should only occur in times of dire necessity. People do not look favorably upon whining.
