bad website = bad sign?

I am trying to do some research into some of the programs at the schools i am deciding betwenn… and i noticed that for my major the website is very bare and for one of them, the links haven’t been updated since 2001! Does this mean that they probably don’t have a great program in that field?

This is penn’s IR/chinese depts by the way…

at the liberal arts schools i applied to, that sounds like the pages for almost every department, so i wouldnt worry too much

Try calling/e-mailing the departments and see if they give you some quality information. If no one is willing to talk to you (or send info) or doesn’t seem to have a lot of good things to say, then your judgements based on the websites may be justified. However, it could simply be that whoever runs those particular departments is too busy to update the website or not very tech-minded.

occidental has a sucky website but is an AMAZING school… it doesnt really make a difference i say
