I’m looking for a school that has good engineering, political science, and international affairs programs. Basically something along the lines of the University of Michigan, and the University of California - Berkeley. Can anyone help me construct a list?

stanford’s pretty well rounded…

UW-Madison and Minnesota are strong in these fields (and many others).

Thanks. With the exception of Minnesota and UMich, these schools are reach schools for me… are there any “balanced” back up schools I can use? Something along the lines of UMD-College Park, USouthCarolina, UCDavis etc. etc…

If Wisconsin is a reach for you, Michigan definitely will be one also.

Ohio State has very strong engineering departments, a top 15 political science department and Title VI (generally the top dozen or so in terms of faculty and other resources) national research centers in Russian & East European, East Asian and Middle Eastern studies.

Admissions wise, it will be similar to UCDavis and UMD.

Sorry, Wisconsin is not exactly a reach for me. And my brother, who is studying at UMich, says UMich shouldn’t be a problem for me considering my background and SAT score of 1970.
I know it may be a pretentious and obnoxious thing to do but my parents, after being brainwashed by my UMich brother, refuse to let me apply to Michigan State and Ohio State even as backups…
