Balancing out course load

So how do you balance out your course load? Are you able to take 3-4 courses where you’re able to get intensive help for each and every course? (from office hours, TAs, students, etc)? Or are you only able to “get your money’s worth” for 1-2 courses, while doing the minimum needed for the others?

I often feel that way with my courses. There’s always this one course that I need SO much time for, that I’m pretty much forced to skip/do bare minimum for 1-2 other courses, while there’s 1 other course that I can spend some time on. Sometimes I feel that I’m not getting my money’s worth out of college. But maybe this is pretty typical? If one course NEEDS so much time, then might as well put in the time needed for it.

You can certainly take a standard course load of 3-4 courses and do well by going to office hours, TAs, and study groups. It helps to ask some students who took the course how it went, and how much time the course demanded. In general, seek advice from upperclassmen before signing up for a course.

you ask other people what they’re taking,
and copy their schedule

except you’re not allowed to ask really smart people,
or you’ll just do bad and feel inferior,
which is probably what’s going to happen to me next term

yeah, but i frequently need 2-4 times the time someone else needs for a course. which is the problem…
