<p>Has anyone ever recieved or heard of the Bank of America Achievement Awards? I recieved the plaque award from my school and am now filling out an application. What types of people when the next step of this award. Should i be hopeful?</p>

<p>At my school there are 3 given out, Math/Science, Humanities/Social Sciences, and Fine Arts. They are the most prestigious awards given at graduation, and I think they come with a small scholarship, though I’m not sure. My uncle won one a long time ago from my school, and his came with money, but I don’t know how it is run now.</p>
<p>I’m in that for Applied Sciences. I had to fill out a little application, and if you move on to the next step then you go to a conference and duke things out with other smart (or whatever you want to call them) kids. I think you also get $500 if you move on to the next round. Otherwise it’s just a plaque.</p>
<p>o awesome. i just got it today out of nowhere-i hadn’t even applied. I guess teachers nominate people then they narrow it down.</p>

<p>Yeah, 3 plaque winners and they can choose them from any multiple of the four categories. I just got the application to try to get to the next round for science and math. The administration voted for another guy for science and math, and a girl for humanities. We were 1,2,3 in class rank, although they said class rank played no part in the selection process.</p>
<p>I love how the counselor said “this is the only space you have to put extracurriculars for science and math”. Then she pulls out the application with 30 or so rows for extracurriculars. My eyes widened… (30 activities for math and science!!!)</p>
<p>When’s the conference or when those applications are due? I’m trying to determine if I still have a chance…hehe</p>
<p>I was nominated at my school, but I wasn’t even aware they had the award for different achievement categories…guess my counselor didn’t explain it too well. I must have been selected for math/science, because I’m not very outstanding in anything else…come to think of it I’m not super outstanding in math/science either, but I guess it was good enough.</p>
<p>Umm anyone in Northern California know if the regional finalists were already chosen? I thought I had a chance, but Im not so sure now. Besides I think I filled out the application wrong</p>
<p>Currently I haven’t heard back from BofA. A quick check confirms that the other three candidates haven’t heard back either.</p>
<p>Haven’t heard back either, Math/Sciencem anyways our team from school is one of the strongest in this contest, two girls ranked 1st,2nd in 480 class, crazy musician who seats behind me in AP Gov and sometimes visits this forum

<p>On the paper, it says that all regional competitors will receive $500 on the spot. I’m going for Applied Arts.</p>
