Banking in columbus

Which banks have ATM machines on campus?

Is anyone familiar with the Marching Band? We’re from out of state, and my son wants to try out. I’d love to pick someones brain on logistics.

Thanks in advance

I think Fifth Third Bank has several. I’ll ask my D and let you know.

Yea, I’m kind of wondering the same question. What big banks have ATMs and/or branches in Columbus and on campus? I’m from the DC area, and we have our share of local east-coast banks as well as some big nationwide banks.

OK, D says she’s had a good experince with Fifth Third.

Chase has a strong presence around campus, and I’ve heard only good things. I know they have a couple ATMs around, at least a couple scattered right ON campus.

Fifth Third also has ATMs here and there ON campus, with branches right around as well.

Those two are the main ones I’ve seen, but I’ll check around.

Could you look into Chase? I will probably be going with that one, as they have more around the country, and i think they’re the only ones in the MD/DC area, of the ones listed above.

Do you know anything about Huntington National Bank, and there was another bank that merged with PNC or something like that, that also has a branch or office on High Street…

Fifth Third is the only bank with an ATM on campus, but there are several banks on High Street that have ATM’s–including National City Bank which merged with PNC. Fifth Third bank had a booth at freshman orientation where you could sign up for free student checking. With on-line banking, it is easier for parents who live far away from Ohio to be able to link their local banks to banks near OSU, so that they can transfer money in a timely fashion.
As far as being involved with music while at OSU. I found that there are many options for students who would like to continue playing with an organized group. We received a call from a current band member last week asking if my son had any interest, so they are having some kind of outreach program. There are several orchestras that sudents can take part in. Some require auditions, some not. Some are made up of mainly music majors, some run half music majors, half other majors. There is one orchestra class that targets students who love to play an instrument, aren’t majoring in music, and don’t have a lot of free time, not do they want to audition… It meets one night a week, so as not to interfer with daytime classes. The University will even lend the student an instrument and a place to store it. There are practice rooms available, and the student can arrange for private lessons from a prof, grad student, or experienced upper class student, depending on what they want to spend. I have found OSU to be very helpful whenever I have called asking for information or help in answering any question–they always manage to have the right person contact me with an answer.

of the banks on high street, what part of high street is it on in regards to campus? ex - near the south campus gateway area, towards the downtown city area, etc…

The book store, which is in the Barnes and Noble, is on the corner of 11th and High street–near the south campus gateway. Buckeye Donuts is near the north end of High street at 1998 North High. In-between are the following banks: Fifth Third at 1960 High, Chase at 1698 High, Huntington at 1928 High, National City at 1886 High, Sky Bank at 1582 High, and U.S. Bank at 1894 High. Key Bank is at 1672 Fifth. I know that there is a Fifth Third ATM at the Towers Residence Hall, but I don’t know where the other campus ATM’s are. I’m also not sure what banks there might be over by the Target shopping complex.

From Cincy, where Fifth Third is headquartered…have banked with them for over 20 years and we have personal and business accounts there. I am relieved they have such a presence at OSU because dd has an account already established. I’m sure I’d feel odd about choosing a bank I’d never heard of if she’d chosen a school further away; but I can’t imagine banking anywhere else.

I bank at US Bank, and it’s on High Street right across from the Oval. They have an ATM outside and I’ve had really good luck with the service in the bank- the people are much nicer than at my US Bank at home!
