I currently have a savings account with Bank A. I would like to open a free student checking account at Bank B. If I am correct with a checking account I would get a debit card. Now how do I go about closing my savings account at Bank A and transferring my money to Bank B.

no, you Paypal the money to my account.

Sure…

You go talk to Bank A and tell them you want to close your account. I think they can either transfer the money for you, or they can empty your account and give you cash for you to take to the new bank.

Don’t quote me on that though because I’m not 100% sure.

Go talk to your bank and they’ll tell you want you need to do.

Obviously my thread name was changed and I apologize if anybody found it offensive. So will there be a fee to close my account at Bank A?

No fee in closing a savings account at Bank A. But if it is just a regular savings account, it can stay open for as little as $1 or $5.
So you can withdraw everything and deposit it into your new checking account if you want.

A better way would be to open a savings and checking account in the same bank and have them linked. Then the money is at least earning some interest while in the savings account. You can transfer from savings to checking and vice versa using ATM, phone, or online.
