Anyone willing to share what schools they are turning down to go to UMD on a Bannaker Key this year?

I turned down UPenn and Duke, the only high level schools I applied to.

My son turned down UCBerkeley, Case Western, UNC Chapel Hill, UT Austin, Northeastern, and a handful of other schools. He’s finishing his freshman year at Maryland and is loving life! Go Terps! :D

Johns Hopkins, Emory, and big scholarships at Tulane and Brandeis… but unless you have a ton of $ you can’t beat a free college education! although its kind of annoying that Banneker Key scholars have to take 15 credits a semester… doesn’t motivate me much for APs :P

Why is that? I’m in under different rules (only 12 credits required) but I always took over 15 credits. I entered with 55 AP credits so I started freshman year taking 2nd and 3rd year courses. This has allowed me to both expand and deepen my study of chemistry (my major) while adding a totally unrelated minor(piano performance). I am taking graduate chemistry (for undergrad credit) while also taking upper division bio and biochemistry classes. IOW, I am getting a world class education. I am taking research every semester and because I was ahead after freshman year I was able to get a summer research spot in NYC normally reserved for rising juniors and seniors. You have been given a wonderful opportunity, make the most of it :D
