So I have a HP 50G and I do not plan on departing with it anytime soon. (Of course its on RPN mode) It’s a great calculator; it’s better than the Ti series IMHO. I noticed that it is banned for the ACT test, but its legal for every other test out there. Now what are the chances that the test proctor actually knows what a HP 50G looks like? Sure they can spot the Ti 89 any day, but so far I am the ONLY student with a 50G at my school. I only know 2 other people that own one, but they are in college. So will I get caught? If they do not tell me that it’s banned, I am all good right? If they catch me, is my score automatically disqualified?

I wouldn’t do it.
ACT states “WARNING: You are responsible for knowing if your calculator is permitted.”
However proctors sometimes dont really care to pay much attention…
I 100% understand the advantage you have with your own calculator vs. some other one you are not used to.
Its up to you, I honestly dont think they would catch you, but I wouldnt take the risk.

bring a backup just in case, worst case scenario they just don’t allow you to use it

If you don’t get caught, you’re OK. If you get caught, you’re going to be reported and most likely have your scores cancelled.

lol its funny you mention this. Everytime in the testing area when the proctor says “I will now take a minute to check to see if you have acceptable calculators” like they walk up and down 1 aisle and that’s it lol.

It’s not like the proctors go through some training exam where they have to identify calculators. I say you should just bring a backup calc as well and you’ll be fine.
