<p>Poets I think the talking heads have a lot of air time to fill. Unless one candidate or another has made some gaffe that they discuss ad nauseum they have to think of things to talk about.</p>

<p>A lot of talk about someone who is “Respected” on both sides. You are assuming the respect is from congress. The problem is, you are commenting an opinion based on a somewhat educated position. I commend all of you. unfortunately, the average American is NOT EDUCATED in political, economic, military, and social issues. They can barely balance their check book let alone have their credit cards maxed out.</p>
<p>If you are Obama, Clinton, or McCain and are deciding on a Vice-President, you need to choose someone who the American People have heard of. A popular person. Someone you obviously can work with along with the congress, but those aren’t the ones VOTING in November. Pick someone that the American voter can somewhat relate to.</p>
<p>Safe votes are OTHER candidates that ran against you. They have months of face time and recognition. The voters have heard of them. Most voters have no idea who the governor of any state other than their own is. Those aren’t good choices. Unless they also ran against you or are a popular figure. E.g. Arnold in california; (I know he can’t). Other vp candidates could be people like Colin Powell, Condi Rice, Bloomberg, etc…</p>
<p>Bottom line is you need a running mate that people know. A fellow candidate who has been on tv for the last 6-9 months; a well known governor; or another public/private figure head with name recognition.</p>
