Bard vs Pratt

My daughter is trying to decide between Pratt and Bard.
She wanted a “real” art school but got a very large scholarship to Bard, almost completely covered. So that is a factor. She would be going for painting and drawing and wanted to be in NYC because that’s where real artists are so doesn’t want to make the wrong decision. Any helpful info? She’s a quiet arty kid who loves painting, drawing, dancing and writing.
She also got a scholarship to Pratt but less than half of what she was given at Bard. Appreciate any feedback! Thanks!

How much would the price difference matter in terms of student loan debt?

Because art tends to be elite or bust as a way to earn a living, starting with a lot of debt may not work out too well.

I know kids at both. The one at Bard is not doing art but selected over some highly ranked schools due to merit. Seems like it was a pretty good call on her part given how happy she is. Lots of nyc kids there so you get some of the vibe and can visit the city.

FWIW the kid at Pratt also doing well. Great hands on art. Nice location in Brooklyn

It is a huge difference. Scholarships are 25k to Pratt and 75k to Bard.

That is her concern with Bard she was hoping to be in NYC. Hearing it has a NYC vibe is good.
