Barnard Class of 2028 Official Thread

thank you!! I hope a lot get off this year, too. My only downside is that I do need some financial aid and I know they are need-aware in their waitlist decisions. I hope that doesn’t knock me down too much, though, because Barnard is 100% my top choice. I’m going to try to make that clear without being too pushy lol.

ugh and yay at the same time!! Maybe we’ll get lucky and start hearing earlier this year in April…that would be the best! Is Barnard one of ur top choices?

Also, anyone seeing this–can someone create a waitlist thread for this year? I’m a bit new to CC (I’m a resident Redditor lol) and I do not know how to make a correct one. I think it’d be helpful to talk about waitlist whereabouts on there

I just found out my D24 was a WL too. 4.0UW, 4.3W, 7APs (5s on all taken), excellent ECs with lots of leadership, volunteer hours, paid work & talent awards. We are actually excited about WL!!! It has been rejection after rejection for every reach school and even two targets! I think WL will move, for sure…From what I have seen on this post, the same people are getting accepted to all the schools. The women that got into Barnard probably got into 5+ other elite schools.

Do we know how many people they waitlisted this year?

not sure…but they said in an email that they “only waitlisted a small portion” of a talented group of applicants so…maybe not that many? but who knows. i’d assume similar numbers as previous years. could be wrong tho

What drive me crazy is that Barnard won’t announce how many they took in ED round. Why are they hiding it? Was it more than the whopping 60% of class from last year. It’s just the more they took in ED, the less the waitlist will move.

Oh no…that’s a bit scary. Hopefully not too many but if I had to guess based on previous information then it would be around the same. I know they accept a majority via ED to protect yield but hopefully they didn’t by a lot more this year…

DD was so fortunate to get into Barnard but also got into Boston College and Tufts, as premed major it is hard to choose(also got waitlist and rejected by many other schools, it really is a crap shoot with no rhyme or reason). I agree I think the WL will open up a lot this year. Good luck to all as I know how competitive it is. I hope things work out for everyone.

I have been waitlisted and I am looking to submit an additional letter of recommendation. However, I am unsure of how to approach this because this is what the portal says " Please do not email waitlist updates to our office or individual admissions officers, as we cannot guarantee that they will be added to your application." Can I ask my recommender to email the recommendation to the admissions office? Would that be okay? I don’t want to jeopardize my chances of getting off the waitlist by not following their instructions. Any help would be appreciated! Barnard is my #1 choice and I got waitlisted after being deferred ED.

Hey guys…hope someone sees this. A couple of questions regarding my Barnard waitlist.

  1. When they say that they are going to “re-evaluate applications” throughout the spring and summer, does this mean they are basically “deferring” my decision? As in, they’ve placed us on the waitlist because they don’t know yet if they’d like to accept or deny me and they will go through the whole application reviewing process again in a few weeks? Or is it more like I’ve passed the initial test and they will just start going down the line (take this phrase with a grain of salt, I understand the waitlist is “interchangeable”) in a few weeks based on who declines the offer? I hope this makes sense and I can clarify if needed.

  2. I want to send in 2 more LORs since I have only submitted the 2 required ones. I know that these 2 will offer new perspectives to my application and they will not be repetitive. Does anyone know of a good place to have my recommenders send these to? Should it just be straight to my admissions representative? Straight to the AO? If no one knows I’ll just figure it out myself but just wondering if anyone has a clear idea.

Thanks.
